Frequenty Asked Questions

Absolutely not. We do have behavior restrictions, however. We do not accept dogs that are aggressive toward people or any other animals. We administer a Temperament Test to every dog before they will be accepted. See details about the Temperament Test HERE.

Our focus is on medium and large dogs, and do not accept small dogs unless they have siblings that are medium to large dogs and know how to avoid getting trampled by the big dogs.

All dogs must be up to date on Rabies, Bordetella, Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus. Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus, which are commonly packaged together as the DHLPP vaccine. Other packages/combinations are available, but as long as the dog is vaccinated against these seven diseases it will satisfy this requirement. The canine influenza vaccine and a recent heartworm test are also recommended, though not required. Vaccination records from your veterinarian are required before any interaction with our daycare or boarding dog pack members. Records can be sent to info@davidsdogden.com.

The DHLPP vaccine protects dogs from distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, and parainfluenza. The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) considers the DHLPP vaccine a core vaccine, and recommends it to help save dogs from potentially fatal diseases.

We require the Leptospirosis vaccine because Plano has a lot of wild rabbits–potential carriers of Leptospirosis.

Canine influenza, also known as dog flu, is a highly contagious respiratory disease that affects dogs. It's caused by specific types of influenza A viruses that can spread to dogs.

Symptoms of canine influenza include:

Coughing, Runny nose, Fever, Lethargy, Reduced appetite, and Runny eyes.

Most dogs infected with canine influenza have mild symptoms and recover within two to three weeks. However, just as with humans, some dogs may develop complications such as bacterial pneumonia.

Canine influenza can spread through: respiratory secretions, contaminated objects, food and water bowls, collars and leashes, and clothing and skin of people who come in contact with infected dogs.

Although we love puppies, we cannot care for them at our home, since they cannot be vaccinated fully before 4 months.

Your dog must be at least 4 months old and have received the required vaccinations in order to join our Boarding and/or Daycare group.

Unfortunately no, all dogs over 7 months old must be spayed or neutered.
